Pediatric Sedation Dentistry

Your child might catch the giggles on their next visit to the dentist. For certain treatments, we may recommend use of nitrous oxide (laughing gas) to ease your child’s dental experience. If treatment in the office is not possible, we also offer an anesthetic option for comfortable treatment.

What is Sedation Dentistry?

Sedation dentistry relaxes your child if they need help calming their nerves and anxiety. Laughing gas is delivered via a nitrous oxide mask—or as we like to call it, a “Princess” mask or a “Space” mask.

Laughing gas is always monitored by your child’s dentist. Parents are welcome to stay in the room with their child as they undergo treatment. Once the dental procedure is complete, the effects of the giggle gas will wear off in a matter of minutes, with the goal of your child leaving with a positive experience.

Is My Child a Candidate?

Your child may be a great candidate for sedation dentistry if they:

  • Are anxious or fearful
  • Are afraid of the dentist
  • Are healthy
